CRCsoft for the Psion 3 and Psion 5

During my work on the computer I often need to know whether two files are identical or not. CRCsoft does just that check on the Psion. It calculates two different CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Checks) for files of any lenght and any type. The CRC-32 does express the contents of a file in 32 bits and is the more secure but slower one. The CCITT-CRC (only available in the Series 3 version) is 16 bits wide and is very fast to calculate because the program can use a routine which is in the Psion Series 3 ROM.

The CRC-32 can be used to check for identical files even on different machines (for example to verify that a file has been transmitted correctly). CRC-32 is a widely used standard; for most computer platforms there are tools to calculate the CRC-32 (see CRC calculation on the Acorn with RISC-OS).

CRCsoft is Freeware.

If you can handle ziped files you should download the .zip file to save download time, otherwise download the .opo file which can be started directly on your Psion 5.
